Dear Sierra Vista Families,

Welcome to the 2026–27 school year! As we begin another year at Sierra Vista Middle School, I am incredibly proud of the progress our students, staff, and families made together last year, and even more excited about what we are building next.

Last year was a year of growth. We saw improvement across our academic and school culture measures, and Sierra Vista finished as the top-performing middle school in the district. We also saw a significant decline in chronic absenteeism and suspension rates, demonstrating that our efforts to support students academically, socially, and behaviorally are making a difference.

But growth at Sierra Vista was about more than numbers. We created new opportunities for students to challenge themselves and discover their potential. Our new competitive Math Team represented Sierra Vista at regional and LACOE competitions, giving students the opportunity to collaborate, compete, and put their mathematical thinking to the test. We also introduced our Positive Behavior Store, giving students something to look forward to each week while recognizing the positive choices and contributions that make our school community stronger.

This year, our theme is “Falcons at Work: The Future Is Under Construction.” It represents exactly where we are as a school. We are building on the success of last year, continuing to strengthen our academics, our school culture, and the opportunities we provide for every student. Construction takes vision, effort, teamwork, and persistence, and so does success.

Our focus remains on helping students become strong readers, critical thinkers, effective communicators, and confident, organized learners. We will continue to emphasize literacy, AVID strategies, and collaboration while creating opportunities for students to discover their interests, develop their talents, and take pride in their accomplishments.

Most importantly, we want our students to understand that their future is something they help build every day. Success does not happen by accident. It takes showing up, putting in the work, learning from mistakes, and continuing to move forward.

We are excited about what we are building here at Sierra Vista, and we look forward to seeing what our students accomplish this year. To every Falcon who is willing to put in the work with us: we are ready to build something great together.
